Fellowship Summary: Soulardarity is hiring three to five (3-5) fellows to work with our Highland Park campaign from May through October 2020. Fellows will receive training and leadership development and take lead on organizing and advocacy around the Blueprint for Energy Democracy. The goal of the BFED is to make Highland Park a global model of sustainability and self-determination. Our campaign organizes towards that goal using community organizing, focused on the elected leadership of the City of Highland Park.

PANDEMIC UPDATE: Due to COVID-19, all fellow responsibilities will be conducted through remote means. Access to a computer or smart phone is a functional requirement of the program.

Responsibilities of the Fellows
--Support and advocate for the proposals in the Blueprint for Energy Democracy
--Attend monthly campaign team meetings
--Conduct outreach to neighbors, friends, and family in Highland Park on campaign issues
--Attend and support outreach and planning for the Energy, Sustainability and Tech Fair (Sat. August 22nd)
--Monitor and build a relationship with a Highland Park City Council member to educate them and hold them accountable to their decisions

Compensation: $2,100 will be paid by Soulardarity in exchange for fellows working with and reporting to Fellowship Program Coordinator throughout the program. Stipends will be paid half upfront, quarter midway, quarter at the close of the fellowship. In addition Fellows gain training and capacity building on energy democracy, environmental justice, and how to effectively engage with local government.

Fellowship Training Schedule has changed:
  • Training Date 1: Moving it from May 9th to Thursday May 21
  • Training Date 2-3: Moving it from May 21-22 to the Friday May 29-30
  • Training Date 4: Moving it from May 30th to the June 5
