Installation and Soulardarity Social 2015
In 2011, DTE Energy repossessed over 1000 streetlights from the city of Highland Park, leaving residents in the dark. Since then, Soulardarity has been organizing for a brighter future through community-owned solar streetlights. Come celebrate one of our biggest accomplishments so far - installing four new solar-powered streetlights!
We will meet at 45 Highland St at dusk to witness one of the lights turning on. We will then go around the corner to Pharoah's Lounge, part of Nandi's Knowledge Cafe, for an evening of music, poetry, and testimony from members about their journeys towards self-reliance through community-owned energy. We will also give a sneak-peak into what Soulardarity is getting up to next year. This event also marks the end of Soulardarity's first membership drive. Membership is the foundation of everything we do - join today.
